Quarantine Cocktails

If you’re like everyone I know, you’ve been enjoying a few more cocktails while you’ve been SIP than normal. In fact, recent articles state that online alcohol sales are up 243% since the start of the pandemic. With that in mind, I thought I’d share some pantry staple cocktails for your weekend (or heck, anytime during the week). My Skinny Spicy Margarita remains a favorite, but here are some others that I will be enjoying this week.

Bloody Mary

We introduced my stepson to the beauty of the bloody mary this past weekend and feel it will now become a weekend staple during this SIP. Make yourself a big batch ahead of time (minus the alcohol) to keep in the refrigerator. The flavors will come together in an incredible way and you can enjoy one just about any time. This recipe is great and if you don’t have pickle infused vodka (ok, who does??), just add a splash of pickle juice to the mix and go with straight vodka.

The Lavender Lemondrop

This is one of my all-time favorite drinks. I was introduced to this cocktail at my favorite restaurant, The Flea Street Cafe. The Lavender Lemondrop they make is legendary - sit at the bar and at least half the people are drinking them. So good. This refreshing drink is easy to make and packs a punch.

Blood Orange Margarita

Our blood orange tree is producing an unbelievable amount of fruit right now so I was on the lookout for a cocktail that would allow me to use them. Introducing the Blood Orange Margarita. This simple drink has five ingredients and is super refreshing. Use tequila in place of vodka in the recipe to make this a marg. Don’t have a blood orange - make it with whatever citrus you have on hand. So good.

Raspberry Thyme Basil Gin Cocktail

I love a raspberry cocktail and this Raspberry Lime Basil Gin cocktail delivers! It has great flavor and I love the twist the thyme delivers. Don’t love gin? Swap it for vodka. Garnish this one with some lime slices and basil (if you have it).

Vodka Watermelon Cocktail

It’s been warm this past week and I’m all about watermelon as we get into late spring/early summer. This Vodka Watermelon Cocktail uses five ingredients and is a crowd-pleaser. No coconut water? It can be omitted but adds a little something extra to this drink (add it to your Instacart order). And if you don’t have citrus-flavored vodka, add a splash of lemon juice for the same taste.

Raspberry Beer Cocktail

This is Raspberry Beer Cocktail great cocktail for a party as it makes a lot. But since we’re SIP, you might want to half this recipe (unless you want to drink. alot.). Frozen raspberries work great and if you don’t have Corona, use whatever light beer you do have.
